The Caddie Corner

My name is Kim and I became a Golf Caddie in late 2009 when my best friend (Ron Montoya) decided to become a Professional Golfer.  I didn’t really know very much about the complexities of the golf world before that time, but believe me when I say, it is much more intricate than I ever expected.

In the two years Ron and I have been working together, we have certainly had our share of ups and downs…advances and set-backs…and overall we’ve had a truly amazing experience.  We have had to learn to balance our families, friends as well as our relationship, while supporting and encouraging  each other in this profession.  Getting started in professional golf isn’t as glamorous as one might think, and it consists of a lot more than just going and “playing golf”.  Of course we spend countless hours every day practicing around the green, from the rough and on the range.  Getting to actually play a few rounds weekly is the fun part, but it requires constant mental focus and physical conditioning.  Finding financial supporters and sponsors is a very large portion of professional athletics, as is effective marketing strategies to spread the awareness.

One important facet of our work is our decision to keep our “Business” Relationship separate from our “Personal” Relationship.  ONLY Golf-related talk happens on the course and on the drives to practices or Tournaments.  Once we leave the course, business stops and we make a very conscious effort not to take it home with us.  We both agree this is really the only way to make everything mesh well together.

On a personal note…I am a 37 year old mother of 2 kids.  I have a wide range of hobbies I enjoy doing, some of which include camping, fishing, kayaking, horseback riding and traveling.  In addition to being a Caddy for Ron, I am launching my own accessorizing business called KrystalKatsBling.  Soon you will have the opportunity to purchase golf-related items from my own web site, from which a portion of the proceeds will be donated to RonMontoyaGolf in support of Ron’s career.

I decided to launch this blog as a series of humorous quips and informational blogs about the life of a Professionl Golfer, his Caddie, and the many adventures we experience in the world of Golf.  So stick around…you never know what adventure is in store for you!
